Absolutely exquisite hand painted porcelain lidded ginger jar, crafted by artisans in Japan circa late 1800s, early 1900s. It features sweeping panes of pink roses against a yellow and deep teal with alternating peacock feather-like shapes of gold gilt, heavily embellished with moriage, as is the lid. According to Kovels, Nippon Porcelain dates between 1891-1921. After that, US law required imports to be labeled with the country of origin in English. This is a one-of-a-kind piece that anyone would be proud to call their own.
In excellent condition, free from chips/cracks/repairs. Marked "Hand Painted Nippon" on the bottom.
