Classic obelisk shaped antique mahogany cased Metronome with brass fittings. Designed and patented by Maëlzel and manufactured by Paquet, France, early 20th century. Serial number 353.455. The brass plate on the cover reads, Paris, France, Angleterre, Amérique, Hollande, Belgique. Remove the cover to reveal the steel timing arm and tempo scale against a dark stained background.
The unique bell chime on this metronome is a feature you can use to signal the start of a measure that has either 2, 3, 4, or 6 beats per measure. The bell can also be set to not strike at all, so it functions as regular metronome. A useful but rare option not normally seen on metronomes.
In good condition with wear to the body commensurate with age. In good working order.
